Kara Swinney is a native Austinite who completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Trinity University in 1998 and then received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy fromTexas Woman’s University in 2000. She married her high school sweetheart and they live with their two children in Central Austin near extended family.
Kara has worked in a variety of Pediatric settings, including hospital-based outpatient therapy clinics, early childhood intervention, The Rise School of Austin, home health PT and now is excited to open her own practice where she can work with children one-on-one to help them reach their potential. Kara has invested in her continuing education throughout her 20+ year career. She is certified in Neuro-developmental Treatment Technique (NDT) and most recently became a Cuevas Medek Exercises (CME) Level I Certified Practitioner. She can expertly guide parent and child through motor development from birth through adolescence.
Outside the clinic, Kara’s commitment to the Disability community in Austin runs deep. Kara is the current Board President for The Arc of the Capital Area and has served on the Board of Directors for 10 years. For more information about The Arc, please visit arcaustin.org.
