I am picky when it comes to therapists for my son, and I cannot recommend Kara Swinney highly enough.  Kara is experienced & knowledgeable:  she has worked with all different kinds of kids with developmental delay.  My son has a rare disorder; she’d worked with children facing the same hurdles he has and always knows the right next step.  Kara is constantly learning:  We have done intensive PT with other therapists while working with Kara – she always comes one day – at no charge – to see what they are doing, coordinate with them and make sure she is following up with them.  Her CME certification has greatly benefited our son, and another example of Kara continuing to learn new things to help her kids.  Kara is available:  As an example: Kara recommends orthotics and then meets with the orthotist.  Kara communicates:  She sends the best updates and videos after our son’s sessions.  Every.  Single.  Time.  I never wonder what they are working on, what we can work on, and how he did.  She also regularly communicates with our son’s teachers and other therapists so that everyone is on the same page and working toward the same goals.  She also takes notes from them to incorporate their goals into her sessions with him when she can.  Kara is KIND:  She sets expectation for my son to work hard in session, but he LOVES her.  He rushes to meet her when he sees her.   Kara gets results:  In the end – with Kara’s help, my son was walking well before his diagnosis said he should be.  He is continually getting better at all things.  Our doctors are always praising him, and say “keep doing what you are doing.”  We are grateful to have Kara in our lives.  Kara goes above and beyond:  whether it is helping us fill out insurance paperwork, flexing through the Covid craziness, giving our son thoughtful Valentine’s and birthday cards, or incredibly hard work for her clients – the love that she has for her kids and families is very apparent.  We love her right back.

I just wanted to leave a good review for Kara Swinney. I told her my concerns about my daughter and she made so many goals for her and she has taught my baby so much that now my baby has reached every mile stone. She is a very caring and understanding person.

We have seen many physical therapists, and no one compares to Kara. She is patient, calm, determined, and creative. She not only constantly comes up with new activities to keep my son engaged, but also gives us things to do at home to continue to help him grow. She is kind, warm, and motivating, and the work that she did with my son has made him so much stronger and more confident.

As a mom of two kids with Down Syndrome, Kara had been an integral part of our early intervention therapy sessions for over four years.
Both kids benefitted immensely from her expertise and were able to achieve their gross motor milestones with her help. My daughter needed extra help with hip alignment exercises and Kara helped her with using hip brace, hip helpers, and worked on her alignment and proper walking.

Kara is simply amazing. She is the reason my son is walking! She is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and so caring when she worked with my son. I do not have enough good things to say.

Kara has been wonderful to work with the past year. She started seeing my son as a baby who had a clubfoot where she was not only calm and caring with him, but was also very proactive and knowledgeable with the best ways to exercise and stretch his foot. Our son’s doctor is based in another city so it was comforting knowing I had a true professional watching over him while also being a delight to meet with each week.

Kara is nothing short of magical. She is a highly trained & knowledgeable CME practitioner who takes incredible pride in this discipline and it SHOWS! Kara has worked with our 6-year-old for 2 years both through regular PT sessions and intensive programs. When Z was diagnosed with a seizure disorder & CP at 8 months, we were told she would never walk or stand independently. We were in mainstream PT from the age of 9 months working on basic skills until at age 4 we stumbled across Kara’s private practice. We were seeking something different and that’s what we found. Kara’s experience in CME is not like other PT programs. We have seen incredible development in Zara’s gross motor skills since working with Kara. Z can now stand independently, walk independently (even on uneven surfaces!!), she can move from sit to stand and stand to sit, and so many other things. Kara builds a beautiful connection with her kids and the families she works with – that rapport is invaluable for the trust kids build with her in order to truly test their limits. Thank you, Kara, for the love and passion for what you do, because of it, Z is unstoppable.
